COLLEGE RULES & REGULATIONS
Preamble:
- These rules and regulations shall be cited as “Teso College Aloet School Rules” and shall apply to ALL students of the school during their entire stay in Teso College Aloet.
- Students MUST produce this document when being interviewed, counselled or advised by the student leaders, staff and Disciplinary Committee.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
All the Rules and Regulations stipulated here are based on the following guiding principles;
1. SCHOOL MOTTO: Aijaanakin Ka Arimarit
2. SCHOOL VISION: “To be a leading centre of excellence and enhancement of educational opportunities for sustainable national development.”
3. SCHOOL MISSION: “To prepare all our students for their further education, training and professional careers through a well-rounded education rooted in the core moral values of service, obedience, honesty and integrity.”
4. In this school, a student owes a duty to himself, his parents, his school and his country to do his best at work, games and all other activities. He should cooperate with staff and fellow students for his own good, the good of the school and of society at large.
5. No student shall, by word or deed, do anything to cause harm to himself, his fellow students or to the good name of the School.
6. Promotion of patriotism and respect for human rights is important.
7. Timely correction of a student eventually provides an avenue for improvement and achievement of higher education and social goals.
8. The School Management shall enforce these rules and regulations to ensure the wellbeing of all students. Offenders shall be punished whenever they infringe on the welfare of others. In order to protect the School, perpetual offenders may be recommended by staff to the Board of Governors and Commissioner of Education for exclusion.

1.7 | Continuing students must report or leave school in full uniform. |
|

1.8 | Students on holiday or authorized leave must report back within 14 days of due date. |

||
1.9 | No Student shall break off from school unofficially. |
|

||
2.0 | OBEDIENCE AND RESPECT | ||||
2.1 | Obedience:Students of Teso College Aloet MUST obey the Head Teacher, Deputies, Assistant Head Teachers, teaching staff, non-teaching staff, students’ leaders and the general community. |

2.2 | Respect:A student of Teso College MUST respect himself, all those in the school authority, and the community of Teso College. |
|
|
||
2.3 | A student shall show respect to the National Anthem, other anthems and National Emblems, by standing at attention and singing properly to show love of country. |
|
|
||
3.0 | TIME MANAGEMENT | ||||
The students shall be punctual in school functions and move quickly in an orderly manner at all times. |

4.0 | PARTICIPATION IN SCHOOL FUNCTIONS | ||||
A student shall participate in all school programs or routines, including house meetings, house parties, Compound cleaning, house inspections, Roll Calls, General Assemblies, prayers, meals, awards, visitations, meetings and co-curricular activities. |

5.0 | ACADEMICS | ||||
5.1 | All students shall participate in all school academic programs and attain the required average: Passing Marks of 45% for ‘O‘ and ‘A‘ Levels (8 points for both Arts and Science). Other requirements include:

8.1 | Students of Teso College Aloet must accept the food provided by the school. |

8.2 | All meals are compulsory and no special diet shall be provided to any student |

8.3 | Students must follow cafeteria rules and shifts during meals. |
|
|
||
8.4 | Students must be orderly during meal times. |
|
|
||

8.6 | All students must observe meal times. |
|

8.7 | The Kitchen yards and stores shall be out of bounds to students. |
|

||
8.8 | Students shall not cook their own food in the school without permission |

9.0 | HEALTH, SANITATION & MEDICATION | ||||
9.1 | Every student shall promote a healthy life style through personal hygiene, clean environment good eating habits, regular exercises and medical check ups |
|

||
9.2 | A student who gets sick must inform the house captain, house Master, prefect and teacher on duty. |
|
|
||
9.3 | A student who falls sick must report to the Sick Bay for medical attention |
|
|
||
9.4 | A student shall not report or return to school with an infectious disease such as T.B, Cholera, dysentery etc. |
|

9.5 | New students shall declare genuine medical check – up reports |

9.6 | Student shall declare all complicated diseases |

||
9.7 | Every student shall promote and maintain a clean and smart environment through house work and proper waste disposal |

9.8 | Every student shall use official paths in the school compound only and participate in the beautification of the school compound. |

10.0 | SCHOOL PROPERTY | ||||
10.1 | A student shall respect, preserve, value and protect all school property, accessible to him and report any incidences of destruction, theft or mishandling of any to the school authority. |

11.0 | ELECTRICITY & WATER | ||||
11.1 | Students shall use electricity and electrical fittings responsibly |
|
|
||
11.2 | A student shall not posses unauthorized electrical fittings, or gadgets |
|
|
||
11.3 | A student shall not install or interfere with electrical fittings |
|
|
||
11.4 | Students shall use water from water sources in the school responsibly |
|

12.0 | STUDENTS PROPERTY | ||||
12.1 | Students shall posses only those items stipulated in the Admission Letter. |
|

||
12.2 | Students shall respect, care and protect self and other students’ property |
|
|
||
12.3 | A student shall immediately declare any lost and found property to persons in authority. |
|
|
||
12.4 | Students shall not sell or exchange their own or other students‘ property in and around the school. |
|

||
13.0 | COMMUNICATION | ||||
13.1 | English shall be the official language used for communication at all times. |
|
|
||
13.2 | A student shall raise inquiries, suggestions and grievances through the correct channels: suggestion boxes, student leaders, teachers on duty, class teachers and patrons. |
|
|
||
13.3 | A student shall communicate with his parent or guardian only through the Head Teacher‘s Office. A Student shall NOT POSSESS A MOBILE PHONE |
|
|
||
13.4 | In school, all students shall meet their parents or guardians through the Administration. |
|
|
||
13.5 | A student shall put up only authorized notices and publications. |
|
|
||
13.6 | A student shall correspond with the media only with authority from the Head Teacher‘s office. |
|
|
||
14.0 | BOUNDS The students shall live within the school boundaries | ||||
14.1 | The East and West Wings mark the boundaries of Teso College Aloet. |
|
|
||
14.2 | Dormitories and halls of residence are off limits during study times: class time, prep time, parade and assembly time. |
|
|
||
14.3 | Students shall sleep in the dormitories officially allocated to them. |
|
|
||
15.0 | SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR | ||||
15.1 | A student shall behave in a manner that brings good repute to himself and the good name of the college. |
|
|
||
15.2 | Students shall observe tolerance with each other and use decent language to communicate. |
|
|
||
15.3 | A student shall maintain peace and tranquillity inside and outside of the school. |
|
|
||
15.4 | Students shall attend prayers in their respective places of worship at the prescribed time and place within the school. |
|
|
||
15.5 | A student shall be morally upright. |
|
|
||
15.6 | A student shall promote and maintain honesty. |
|
|
||
15.7 | A student shall not partake in, possess or sell any form of alcoholic beverage or involve himself in any form of drug abuse. |
|
|
||
15.8 | Students shall not be found gambling nor be involved in irresponsible borrowing or lending of money, or mortgaging property and items from each other. |

||
16.0 | VISITORS AND VISITATION REGULATIONS | ||||
16.1 | No unauthorized visitors are allowed in the college.Visitors coming to the college shall report and register with the School Administration. |
|
|
||
16.2 | Students shall receive visitors in the Visitors Park and not in any other place. |
|
|
||
16.3 | Dormitories are off limits to unauthorized visitors. |
|
|
||
16.4 | Students shall not provide meals to unauthorized visitors. |
|
|
||
16.5 | No visitor shall address students without permission from the School Authorities. |
|

||
17.0 | ELECTION OF STUDENTS LEADERS | ||||
17.1 | A student shall participate in and promote the peaceful election of student leaders in the school. |
|
|
||
18.0 | RIOTS & STRIKES | ||||
A student shall not involve himself in riots, strikes or any form of student unrest, or incite students to riot or strike for whatever reason or motive. |
|
|
PLEASE NOTE :
- A student who earns a definite suspension shall not be given any more suspensions. He shall be recommended to the Ministry for exclusion if he commits another offence.
- The School Administration shall enforce these rules and regulations for the good of all students, parents, guardians, society and the Nation at large.
- The student who does his level best to adhere to the school routine, programs, rules and regulations, stands to benefit from Teso College Aloet for his own future, and shall be the pride of his parents, school and Nation.
- Parents and guardians shall be encouraged to continually play a role in assisting the School Administration in guiding the students to achieve the desired educational goals.
